On a cloudy Sunday, June 23 2024 in Kongens Lyngby, baseball history was made in Denmark. Twelve U-12 baseball players and 3 Danish baseball academy coaches did drills on fundamental baseball skills in running, throwing, fielding and batting all with the intent and purpose to field a team for this year’s Little League World Series Qualifying round for European countries. The LLI Qualifiers tournament will take place from the 6th to the 11th of July in Kutno, Poland. Danish Baseball Federation president Rod Moore proclaimed at the start of the day, that Danish U-12 players have specifically been invited to the tournament this year reflecting Little League International’s desire to include smaller European countries in recent years. The intense activities of the day left coaches Jan Cannon, Carlos Perez Baez and Omar Gamarra optimistic that they can field the team with federation and parent support. The coaches will notify participants of selections early this week and our new Little League District Administrator, Danish Softball Federation president Mette Nissen Jacoksen, will make the necessary arrangements with LLI. The day ended with high-five hands in a circle of the day’s players and coaches shouting DENMARK!!
